Flip a coin: heads or tails

Tap Flip the coin and get heads or tails, each with a 50% chance.

The coin is flipped in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Tap Flip the coin.
  2. Read the result under the coin: Heads or Tails.
  3. Check the tally: it counts heads, tails and total flips.
  4. Tap Reset tally to start from zero.

How it works

Each flip comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same engine as the site's wheel. Heads and tails get exactly 50% each.

Every flip is independent of the ones before it. If your device asks for reduced motion, the result shows up without the flip animation.

The tally lives on the page only: it isn't saved or sent to a server, and reloading resets it.

Example

You and your roommate both want the last slice of pizza. She calls heads, you take tails, and you tap Flip the coin.

It's tails, but she asks for best two out of three. The next flip is heads, the tally reads 1 to 1, and the third one settles it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I flip a coin online?

Tap Flip the coin and the result shows up right away: Heads or Tails. Flip as many times as you like.

Is a coin flip really 50/50?

On this page, yes. Each side has exactly a 50% chance on every flip. The result comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator.

If I get heads five times in a row, is tails more likely?

No. The coin doesn't remember earlier flips, so the chance stays at 50% every time.

Can I flip a coin several times and count the results?

Yes. The tally counts heads, tails and total flips. Reset tally sets it back to zero.

Is my tally saved?

No. It exists only while the page is open, and it's never sent to a server. Reload the page and it starts from zero.
