Spin the wheel of names
Type names or options, one per line, and spin the wheel to pick one at random.
The draw runs in your browser.
Your list is saved only in this browser.
6 options.
How to use it
- Type your options in the list, one per line, from 2 to 100.
- Press Spin and wait for the wheel to stop.
- To keep a result from coming up again, remove it with the Remove button and spin again.
How it works
Before the wheel turns, the result is already drawn with your browser's cryptographic random generator. Every option has the same chance. The spin only shows the result.
The wheel stops inside the drawn segment, away from the lines, so there's no doubt. A name you type twice gets two segments and twice the chance.
Your list is saved only in this browser, with no account and no upload, until you clear it. If your system asks for reduced motion, the result shows without the animation.
Example
Six friends want to decide who picks the movie: Ann, Ben, Cara, Dave, Ella and Finn. Each one has a 1 in 6 chance, about 17%.
Cara comes up. To pick who brings the snacks, they remove Cara and spin again: now each one has a 1 in 5 chance, or 20%.
Frequently asked questions
Is spin the wheel really random?
Yes. The result comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator before the spin. Every option has the same chance.
How do I make a wheel of names?
Type one name per line in the list. The wheel draws a segment for each name as you type.
How many options can the wheel hold?
From 2 to 100. Past 34, the segments get too thin to show the names, but the result still shows below the wheel.
Is my list saved?
Yes, but only in this browser; it isn't uploaded to any server. To delete it, use Clear list.
How do I keep the same option from coming up twice?
When it comes up, press its Remove button and that option leaves the list. The next spin picks from the rest.
What if I type a name twice?
It gets two segments and twice the chance of coming up. That's a way to give an option more weight.
