WebP to PNG Converter
Free, no quality loss, and your images are never uploaded.
Your images never leave your device.
Drop your WebP images here
You can pick several at once. Accepted format: WebP (.webp).
How to use it
- Drag your WebP images into the box, or use the Choose images button to pick them from your computer or phone.
- Each image is converted to PNG as soon as you add it. There's nothing to adjust.
- Download each PNG on its own, or all of them in one ZIP file.
How it works
Your browser opens each WebP image, draws it on a canvas and saves it again as a PNG. Everything happens on your device: the tool never sends your images to a server.
PNG is lossless and supports transparency, so the PNG keeps the WebP's quality and its transparent areas. That's why you don't pick a quality or a background color. The trade-off: the PNG is usually larger than the WebP.
The PNG doesn't keep the original's metadata, such as EXIF camera details or GPS location, because the image is saved again from the canvas. If the WebP is animated, only the first frame is converted.
Example
You saved a logo from a website and it downloaded as a WebP with a transparent background. The app you want to use it in doesn't open WebP files. Convert it, and you get a PNG with the same pixel dimensions and the same transparent background, ready to use. It will probably be larger than the WebP, because PNG stores the image without loss.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser and your files never leave your device, so it is safe to use with private images.
Does converting WebP to PNG lose quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so converting keeps the WebP's quality. It can't add detail back, though: if the WebP already looked blurry or blocky, the PNG will look the same.
Will the PNG keep my transparent background?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas in the WebP stay transparent in the PNG. That's why this tool doesn't ask for a background color.
Why is my PNG bigger than the WebP?
Because PNG is lossless: it throws nothing away, so it is usually larger than the WebP it came from. The image looks the same; it just takes up more space.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Drop or pick several WebP images, then download them one at a time or all together in a ZIP file.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on desktop and on phones. If a very large image fails on your phone, try it on a computer.
