How to use it
- Tap Record and allow the mic when your browser asks.
- Talk; if you need a break, tap Pause, then Resume.
- Tap Finish and play the recording back.
- Download it in its own format or as a WAV before you close the tab.
How it works
The recorder asks for your mic only when you tap Record. Your own browser records the audio (MediaRecorder). It stays in this tab's memory until you download it, and it's never uploaded to a server.
The file downloads in your browser's format, such as WebM, Ogg or M4A, and the button says which. Download as WAV gives you a mono 16-bit file that plays on any device, but it's bigger. That option shows up for recordings up to 20 minutes.
Each recording runs up to 60 minutes; at that point it stops by itself. Tap Finish, leave the page or close the tab, and the mic turns off, along with your browser's indicator.
Example
Jordan has to send his Spanish teacher a 2-minute clip of himself reading a text. He taps Record, reads, pauses for a sip of water and taps Resume.
When he's done, he plays it back and downloads a WAV, since the school's portal won't take WebM. A 2-minute WAV comes to about 11 MB.

How do I record my voice online?

Why can't the voice recorder find my mic?
The permission may be blocked, or no mic is connected; a message tells you what happened. If it's the permission, allow the mic in the site settings next to the address bar.
