Stopwatch with lap times
Tap Start, mark laps as you go and compare each one to the hundredth of a second.
The time is kept in your browser.
00:00.00
It keeps counting when you switch tabs: the time comes from your device's clock.
How to use it
- Tap Start to begin counting.
- Tap Lap each time you want to mark a time without stopping.
- Tap Stop to pause and Resume to pick up where you left off.
- Once it's stopped, tap Reset to go back to zero.
How it works
The stopwatch reads the time from your device's clock, not from a count of seconds. So it stays right in a background tab or if your computer goes to sleep.
It shows minutes, seconds and hundredths, and adds hours after the first one. Each lap keeps its own time and the running total, newest at the top. From two laps on, it marks the fastest and the slowest.
The table holds up to 999 laps while the page is open. Reload it and everything goes back to zero: nothing is saved in your browser or sent to a server.
Example
You head to the high school track for a run. You tap Start as you set off and Lap each time you cross the line.
After three laps you see 02:05.40, 02:11.82 and 01:58.27, for a total of 06:15.49. The third lap is marked fastest and the second slowest.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use the online stopwatch?
Tap Start to begin; Stop pauses it and Resume carries on. To go back to zero, stop it and tap Reset.
How do I record laps on the stopwatch?
Tap Lap while it runs. Each lap shows up in the table with its own time and the total so far.
Does the stopwatch keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes: the time comes from your device's clock, not a count. It stays right in a background tab or after your computer sleeps. While it runs, the tab's title shows the time.
Does this stopwatch show hundredths of a second?
Yes. It shows minutes, seconds and hundredths, and adds hours after the first one, as in 1:05:03.27.
Are my laps saved?
No. You see them only while the page is open: reloading or closing it clears them. They're never sent to a server either.
Can I use the stopwatch full screen?
Yes, with the Full screen button, in browsers that allow it; it isn't available on iPhone. You can also turn on Keep the screen on, where your browser offers it.
