How to use it
- Drag your AVIF images into the box, or use the Choose images button to pick them from your computer or phone. They convert to JPG as soon as you add them.
- If you need to, change the JPG quality or the background color for transparent areas, then use the Convert again button.
- Download each JPG on its own, or all of them in one ZIP file.
How it works
Your browser opens each AVIF image, draws it on a canvas and saves it again as a JPG at the quality you chose. Everything happens on your device: the tool never sends your images to a server.
JPG can't store transparency or animation. Transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick, and if the AVIF is animated, only its first frame is converted.
JPG is lossy: higher quality keeps more detail and makes larger files; lower quality makes smaller files and gives up some detail.
The new JPG doesn't carry the original's metadata (EXIF), such as camera details or GPS location, because the image is drawn on a canvas and saved again.
Example
You saved an image from a website and it downloaded as landscape.avif, but the app you edit photos with won't open it. Convert it at quality 90: you get landscape.jpg with the same pixel dimensions, ready to edit.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AVIF file?
AVIF is an image format, like JPG or PNG, and its files end in .avif. It can include transparency and animation. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari open it, but not every app or website accepts it. In those cases, convert it to JPG.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser and your files never leave your device, so it is safe to use with private images.
Does converting AVIF to JPG lose quality?
Yes, some detail is lost, because JPG is a lossy format. The higher the quality, the more detail the JPG keeps and the larger the file. The default quality is 90: raise it to keep more detail, or lower it if you need a smaller file.
Why did my transparent background turn into a color?
JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas in the AVIF are filled with the background color you choose: white, black or a custom color. Pick the one that matches where you'll use the image.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Drop or pick several AVIF images: each one converts as soon as you add it, and you can download them one at a time or all together in a ZIP file.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on computers and phones. If your browser can't read AVIF (for example, an older version, or Safari with Lockdown Mode turned on), the page lets you know.
