Your images never leave your device.
Drop your JPG images here
You can pick several at once. Accepted format: JPG (.jpg, .jpeg).
How to use it
- Drag your JPG images into the box, or use the Choose images button to pick them from your computer or phone.
- There is nothing to adjust: each image turns into a PNG as soon as you add it.
- Download each PNG on its own, or all of them in one ZIP file.
How it works
Your browser opens each JPG image, draws it on a canvas and saves it again as a PNG. Everything happens on your device: the tool never sends your images to a server.
PNG is lossless: it keeps the pixels exactly as your browser read them from the JPG. It cannot bring back detail the JPG already lost, and since it throws nothing away, it is usually bigger than the original.
If you took the photo with your phone or camera turned sideways, the PNG comes out upright: before saving, your browser applies the orientation stored in the photo's EXIF data. The new PNG does not keep EXIF metadata, such as camera details or GPS location.
Example
You have a 4000 × 3000 pixel JPG photo and a form that only accepts PNG. Convert it and you get a PNG with the same pixel dimensions, ready to upload. It will usually be a bigger file than the JPG, and the background stays as it was in the photo: it does not turn transparent.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to PNG make the background transparent?
No. The PNG keeps the same background the photo has, because a JPG cannot store transparency. PNG does support it, but changing the format does not erase the background: to make it transparent, you have to remove it in an image editor.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser and your files never leave your device, so it is safe to use with private images.
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. The PNG copies the JPG's pixels without loss, so the conversion does not lower the quality, but it cannot bring back detail that JPG compression already removed.
Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?
Because PNG keeps every pixel without loss, while JPG throws away detail to make the file smaller. That is why the PNG is usually bigger than the original JPG.
Does the PNG keep the photo's EXIF data?
No. The new PNG does not carry the JPG's metadata, such as camera details or GPS location, because the image is drawn on a canvas and saved again. The orientation is applied before saving, so a photo taken sideways still comes out upright.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Drop or pick several JPG images, then download them one at a time or all together in a ZIP file.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on desktop and on phones. If an image is very large, your phone may not be able to convert it; in that case, use a computer.
