How to use it
- Drag your HEIC photos into the box, or use the Choose images button to pick them from your computer or phone. They convert to JPG as soon as you add them.
- If you need to, change the JPG quality, then use the Convert again button.
- Download each JPG on its own, or all of them in one ZIP file.
How it works
In Safari and on iPhone, your own device opens the HEIC photo. In Chrome and Edge, the page loads an open-source reader and the browser decodes the image. Then it's saved as a JPG at the quality you chose, without leaving your device.
Many iPhone photos use the wide colors of Display P3. Before saving the JPG, the tool converts them to sRGB, the color space almost every screen and app uses, so the colors don't look washed out.
JPG is lossy: higher quality keeps more detail and makes larger files; lower quality makes smaller files and gives up some detail.
The new JPG doesn't carry the original's metadata (EXIF), such as the date taken or GPS location, because the photo is drawn on a canvas and saved again.
Example
You downloaded your iPhone photos from iCloud to a Windows computer, and they arrived as IMG_1234.HEIC, but your photo editor won't open them. You convert them at quality 90 and get IMG_1234.jpg, the same size in pixels, ready to edit or upload anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
It's the format iPhone uses for photos when the camera is set to High Efficiency. It takes less space than a JPG of similar quality, but many apps, websites and Windows computers can't open it. When that happens, convert it to JPG.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens inside your browser and your photos never leave your device, so you can use it with private photos too.
Do I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
Yes, some detail, because JPG is lossy. The default quality is 90: raise it to keep more detail, or lower it if you need a smaller file.
How do I make my iPhone save photos as JPG?
Open Settings, tap Camera, tap Formats, then choose Most Compatible. New photos are saved as JPG; the ones you already have stay HEIC. To go back to the space-saving format, choose High Efficiency.
Can I convert several photos at once?
Yes. Drop or pick several HEIC photos: they convert as soon as you add them, and you can download them one by one or all together in a ZIP file.
Does it work on Windows, Android and iPhone?
Yes, in Safari and in recent versions of Chrome or Edge, if your device can decode HEVC video. If your browser can't, the page tells you before you pick any photos. If you pick photos from the Photos app on an iPhone, they arrive as JPGs and you get them back as they are.
